PRAS1: Contact-Free 360° Angle Sensor in Ultra-Compact M-12 Housing
ASM GmbH sets the new benchmark for angular position sensors with the new development of a magnetic angle sensor in a very compact M12 housing. The PRAS1 sensor provides absolute position measurement over full 360° sensing range and is part of the successful POSIROT® family of magnetic angular sensors. With only a 1/2 inch diameter and overall length of less than 2 inches, this small sensor saves space and can be installed in the tightest locations.
The contact-free and wear-free angular measurement of 0° to 360° is achieved by using a position magnet. PRAS1 has a typical resolution of 0.1° and yields an analog signal through the use of a D/A converter. Three different analog outputs are available: 4-20 mA, 0.5-4.5 V and 0.5-10V. The industrial housing is rated up to IP68.
With its dependable and rugged design, the PRAS1 angle sensor is well suited for angle monitoring in a wide variety of heavy duty applications such as factory automation equipment, variable valve controls, mobile working machines, etc.

Magnetic Rotary Position Sensors
New to the POSIROT® family of magnetic rotary sensors is the PRAS21 series. This non-contact position sensor uses an external position magnet to provide an absolute output signal over a 0 to 360 degree measurement range.
By using an external magnet, this sensor provides continuously wear-free operation. The measurement range is 360 degrees and may be ordered with smaller measurement ranges in 15 degree increments. The sensor output is an analog voltage signal, 0.5 V to 4.5 V. Other outputs are available upon request.
The PRAS21 series housing has a height of less than ¼ inch (6.35mm) that is rated IP60. The circuit board is fully potted to yield a high level of shock and vibration resistance. The resolution is rated at 0.03 % of full scale (60 360°) and 0.1 % full scale (15 45°), the repeatability is ±0.03 % (60 360°); ±0.1 % (15 45°) and linearity is ±0.5% full scale.
The favorable price per performance and ultra flat profile of the PRAS21 series make it uniquely suited for numerous OEM applications. The sensor is easily installed with M3 screws.

PRAS2 is a dependable, contact-free and wear-free sensor that utilizes an external permanent magnet to measure complete angular position from 0° to 360° with a typical resolution of 0.1°.
PRAS2 models are available with three different analog outputs: 4-20 mA, 0.5-4.5 V and 0.5-10V. The angle measurement circuitry is shielded from external environment conditions. It has also been designed to be highly shock- and vibration-resistant.
